YouTube has announced several new features. In particular, the social network has improved its machine learning models, which can now detect spam. YouTube confirmed that it removed 1.1 billion spam comments in the first half of 2022 alone.

The social platform said it has also improved its automated bot detection systems, which will be used in chat created during live broadcasts to prevent any negative impact.

Among YouTube's most significant updates is the introduction of a new mechanism to remove comments, warnings and ban commenters during live broadcasts.

Accordingly, if any user account has left an offensive comment that violates the YouTube Community Guidelines, the user will be informed and warned thanks to the new feature. In case the violation is repeated, YouTube will suspend the user's comments for up to 24 hours.

At the moment, these tools apply only to comments in English. However, YouTube plans to expand these features to other languages in the coming months.

On TeamYouTube's official Twitter page, another new feature was announced: from now on, when users download videos in SD, HD or 4K quality, the social network will inform them about how much time remains before the download is complete.

The platform also recently announced that it would begin certifying doctors, nurses and other health professionals to curb misinformation about health problems on YouTube.

YouTube recently launched a new method of identification in which each user received a unique descriptor of his or her name, a nickname, that appears on the platform. It's also visible from the channel's short-form page. Users have been given the opportunity to tag others in comments, video descriptions and titles using the descriptor.
