Two members of the Reddit community have complained that their iPhone 16 smartphones are reproducing other people's conversations, and at the moment no one can say for sure what is the reason, reports Phonearena.com.

The problem was first complained about a few days ago, when one Reddit user wrote that he heard a conversation on his iPhone 16 with a person who was driving while talking to someone on the phone.

The surprised user checked his iPhone and made sure that no applications were running at that moment. The conversation of the unknown man continued for some time and eventually it turned out that he had been in an accident. Two days later, the problem repeated, and the user heard someone using obscene expressions while talking on the phone through his iPhone.

Another iPhone user described the problem in a similar way, but in his case the conversations he heard were more mundane. His smartphone reproduced a phone conversation between a man and his work colleagues. The user checked his smartphone to see if there were any apps running in the background, but found none, which left him confused.

It is not yet known what exactly is causing this behavior on some iPhones. It is quite possible that this is a privacy bug, and Apple is aware of it. The manufacturer may make an official statement if more users encounter this problem.

Reddit users have suggested several other possible options, including carbon monoxide poisoning, which can cause hallucinations. However, the more likely source of the problem seems to be a possible bug in iOS 18. Apple has already had several failed software updates for its devices this year, and iOS 18 could add to that list. According to some users, the iPhone simply plays audio from YouTube or some other app in the background without even showing that it is running.
