The SpaceX company's Starlink internet service provided a Wi-Fi connection for the first time to the Boeing 777 aircraft belonging to Qatar Airways, which was making the Doha-London flight, reports Space.com.

SpaceX has clarified that the Boeing 777 is the largest and longest flying passenger plane that has used the Starlink service to date.

Qatar Airways announced this important event in a press release that was sent directly to Earth during the flight via Starlink Internet connection. According to the report, the airline will supplement its fleet of 777 aircraft with the Starlink service, which will be free for passengers in 2025.

Qatar Airways also released a video on YouTube of a video call between the company's CEO, Badr Mohammed Al Meer, and SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk, which took place during that flight, again via a Starlink Internet connection.

Qatar Airways is not the only airline that has signed a Starlink service contract. SpaceX also has deals with United Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and airBaltic, among others.

SpaceX currently operates more than 6,400 Starlink satellites in low Earth orbit. The company plans to increase their number. this mega constellation may eventually include up to 40,000 or more moons.

"This is the minimum, and from this point it will only get better," Musk said during a video call with Al Meer.
