On August 11, a G1 class (weak) magnetic storm began on Earth, Mikhail Leus, a meteorologist and leading specialist of the Russian Phobos center, reported this on his Telegram channel.
The magnetic storm, which, according to forecasts, will last for three days, began at 18:09 Yerevan time. Lews added that on Sunday morning, the disturbances recorded in the geomagnetic field were already approaching the five-point mark of the K index, which characterizes geomagnetic activity, which corresponds to a weak magnetic storm, but this happened in the afternoon.
Lews also noted that it is impossible to predict when a magnetic storm will weaken, intensify or end.
It was reported earlier that on August 5, a high X-class flare was recorded on the Sun. M1.0, M1.2/SF, M6.1/1N, M1.7 outbreaks were also recorded. Flares on the Sun are often accompanied by emissions of solar plasma, which, reaching Earth, can cause magnetic storms and disrupt radio communications. They can also produce beautiful auroras.
