When will Apple release a 20-inch MacBook?

March 7, 2024  12:16

Apple may release a 20-inch MacBook with a folding screen. However, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, this will happen no earlier than in three years.

Apple's only foldable product with a clear development schedule is the 20.3-inch MacBook, expected to enter mass production in 2027,” Kuo wrote on his social media page X.

However, he did not provide additional details about the device: the diagonal of the new laptop will be about 20 inches when fully unfolded, but there are no other details about the design of the device.

According to MacRumors, Kuo is the third source to mention the possible appearance of a 20-inch MacBook. The first two were display industry analyst Ross Young and Korean website The Elec, which has sources in the supply chain.

The largest laptop Apple currently produces is the 16-inch MacBook Pro. There was once a 17-inch MacBook Pro, which was discontinued in 2012.

There's another interesting twist to Kuo's information: He noted that the 20-inch MacBook is "Apple's only foldable product with a clear development schedule." This means foldable iPhones and iPads won't be available anytime soon, if at all. Although, some sources expected the release of the foldable iPhone in 2026.
