Apple introduces new generation MacBook Air: What should you know about them?

March 5, 2024  10:15

Apple has introduced new 13- and 15-inch next-generation MacBook Air laptops. The devices are no different in appearance from their predecessors, but they have a more powerful M3 chip. The company also stopped production of the 2020 MacBook Air, the first device based on the company's M1 ARM chipset.

As MacRumors reports, citing official promotional materials from the Apple website, the new MacBook Air is up to 60% faster than the model with the M1 chip. The manufacturer also claims that the new device is approximately 13 times more powerful than the most expensive modification of the Intel-based MacBook Air.

The new MacBook Air also features Wi-Fi 6E, Voice Isolation and Wide Spectrum for improved voice clarity in audio and video calls. Now the device, when the lid is closed, also supports up to two external displays, while previous Apple Silicon models only supported one.

You can pre-order the new MacBook Air now, and deliveries will begin on March 8. The laptops will be available in Midnight, Starlight, Space Gray and Silver colors starting at $1,099.

Following the company's discontinuation of the very first MacBook Air (2020), the current MacBook Air lineup includes the 13-inch M2-powered MacBook Air starting at $999, the 13-inch M3-powered MacBook Air starting at $1,099, and the 15-inch M3-powered MacBook Air M3 chip from $1299.
