Will Huawei get ahead of Samsung? Company plans to release first smartphone that will fold in two places

November 9, 2023  19:18

Huawei is actively competing with Samsung in the foldable smartphone market and, according to a TrendForce report, it could beat the Korean manufacturer by releasing a new type of foldable device earlier. Huawei's innovative smartphone will have two hinges and fold in two places, making it different from all other foldable models on the market.

According to TrendForce, Huawei's development of the new device is progressing well, and it is expected to be launched in March 2024. Samsung is also said to be planning to introduce a similar device next year, but Huawei seems to be the first company to release this type of device.

Despite the restrictions and sanctions Huawei faces, its success in the foldable device market will signal its competitiveness against Samsung, which dominates the field.

Note that the market for foldable smartphones is currently gaining momentum, and more and more manufacturers are working on creating such smartphones. So, Google not long ago showed its first folding smartphone, the Pixel Fold. Xiaomi also released Mix Fold 3. OnePlus also promised a folding smartphone.

It is also believed that Apple may release its first foldable smartphone in 2025, although there is no official confirmation of this information.
