Introduction of the .ing top-level domain by Google: Pricing and pre-booking details

November 2, 2023  14:15

Google has recently introduced a compelling new top-level domain, .ing, which has garnered significant attention. However, some addresses within this domain come with a substantial price tag, reaching as high as $130,000 per year. Pre-booking options for these domains are currently available as part of the Early Access program. Christina Yeh, a representative from Google, explained in a blog post that pre-booking involves a one-time additional fee, which will gradually decrease each day until December 5, the official public launch date of .ing domains.

The usage of the "ing" ending is common in the English language, making these domains particularly appealing for businesses and organizations. For instance, domains like buy.ing, which translates to "buying," have generated notable interest, despite their high costs. According to reports, registering buy.ing will come with an annual price tag of $129,999.99, while the domain think.ing ("thinking") will be available for registration at $38,999.99 per year.

While these prices are notably high, the popularity of the .ing domain and the potential branding benefits it offers may justify the investment for certain businesses and organizations. Google's plans to introduce the .meme top-level domain, scheduled for an early access opening on November 28, have also generated anticipation within the online community. The full registration for .meme domains will be accessible starting from December 5.
