How to install apps removed from App Store on iPhone?

November 1, 2023  20:34

The new iOS 17.1 introduced the long-awaited ability for many users to install applications on iPhone, bypassing the App Store. If previously, installing IPA packages (installation file) on iPhone required the help of a computer and a special iMazing program, now the installation process has become much simpler.

Now, to install a third-party app, you need to download it in .IPA format and AirDrop it from your Mac to your iPhone. No notifications will appear on your smartphone, but the application will be automatically installed on the device in the background, and its icon will appear on the desktop or in the application gallery.

This way, it will be possible to install applications that were, for one reason or another, removed from the App Store, or did not appear there at all. The main thing is to update your smartphone software to iOS 17.1. The application installed this way should work without any problems.

The iGuides Telegram channel reports that one of its authors successfully installed the SBOL application on the iPhone 12 mini using this function. At the same time, applications installed in this way did not launch on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The reasons for these restrictions are not yet known.

It is interesting that Apple itself has not yet commented or covered this innovation in iOS 17.1, but it became known about it from Telegram channels.
