Apple co-founder warns of AI dangers

The spread of artificial intelligence generative neural networks like ChatGPT is fraught with many risks. In particular, AI can make it harder to detect fraud and misinformation, Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple, expressed such an opinion in an interview with the BBC.

"AI is so intelligent it's open to the bad players, the ones that want to trick you about who they are," he said.

The good thing about AI, he said, is that it can create text that "looks really smart" and can do a lot of things previously done by people. But AI's weakness in communicating with people, according to Wozniak, is emotions. According to him, it is precisely because of the lack of emotions that neural networks will never replace humans.

To make AI a safer technology, the government should impose liability on the publication of falsehoods generated by algorithms. IT giants should also take responsibility for the problems and consequences. At the same time, Wozniak doubts that right now the regulatory bodies are doing everything correctly.

"I think the forces that drive for money usually win out, which is sort of sad," he added.

Together with Elon Musk and many experts working in the field of AI development, Steve Wozniak also signed the open letter calling for the halting of the development of advanced AI. Experts see serious risks for modern society in the extremely rapid development of AI.
