Chinese aerospace company Space Transportation has successfully conducted a test flight of its Yunxing supersonic passenger plane prototype, which can fly twice as fast as Concorde and reach New York from Beijing in two hours.

In a report published in the South China Morning Post, the company said it plans to conduct an additional evaluation of the plane's engine in November.

"We aim to have a full-sized supersonic passenger plane ready for its first flight in 2027," the company said.

It is said that the speed of this plane is four times the speed of sound (about 343 meters per second).

China is announcing this new model of the supersonic plane at a time when other companies around the world are also developing high-speed alternatives to passenger transport.

The British company Reaction Engines recently presented the progress made in the process of developing a hybrid engine. The company notes that the flight from Europe to the US can be completed in two hours with the Saber engine system.

The American company Boom Supersonic has designed an aircraft called Overture, inspired by Concorde, which aims to carry out transatlantic passenger flights by 2029. The plane will fly at twice the speed of sound.

The last civilian supersonic jet, the Concorde, was developed by British and French aerospace companies. It flies at twice the speed of sound and was operated from 1976 to 2003.
