A weak magnetic storm has started on Earth, which is likely to reach a strong level, reports Lenta.ru, referring to the Telegram channel of Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist of the Phobos weather center.

Currently, a weak magnetic storm of G1 class has started on Earth. Its beginning was registered on July 30 at 08:09 Yerevan time. At the same time, according to forecasts, on July 30, the storm may reach a strong G3 level. On Wednesday, July 31 and Thursday, August 1, magnetic storms may develop to moderate G2 intensity.

Earlier, Space.com reported that M-class flares have occurred on the Sun, which peaked on July 28, turning into X-class flares and causing the Sun's coronal mass ejections.

Solar flares are eruptions on the sun's surface that emit intense bursts of electromagnetic radiation. These flares occur when magnetic energy stored in the solar atmosphere is suddenly released. The ejected coronal mass sometimes also reaches the Earth, causing a magnetic storm.

Earlier, on July 16, a strong X-class (X1.9) flare was recorded on the Sun. That flare was more powerful than any other solar flare since June.
