The external battery, or power bank, as it is more often called, has become an integral part of many people's daily life. It comes to the rescue in various situations, enabling us to keep our devices charged regardless of our location. However, as a recent incident at a gym in St. Petersburg, Russia where a power bank exploded in a backpack, shows, improper handling of power banks can lead to dangerous consequences.

Valentin Petukhov, techno blogger and founder of the Wylsacom YouTube channel, shared with Gazeta.Ru his opinion about the causes of such incidents. According to him, such incidents of power bank explosions happen for several reasons.

The first and, perhaps, the most important reason is the inappropriate attitude of children towards technology. Because of their youth and inexperience, children sometimes don't realize that even an external battery needs to be handled with care. They can throw the power bank in a backpack without precautions and not monitor its condition. And as a result of such an attitude, the battery can be damaged, which in turn can cause an explosion or fire.

The second important reason, according to Petukhov, is the use of cheap accessories. Low quality power banks, cables, and adapters can be dangerous to use. They are often poorly assembled; their parts may simply be loose inside the body, which increases the risk of mechanical damage. Such devices are not of proper quality and this can lead to serious incidents.

Also, Valentin Petukhov emphasized that there is no need to save money when buying power banks for schoolchildren; it is a wrong approach. It is better to buy quality accessories that will ensure safety and last a long time. Teaching the child the proper use of appliances and accessories also plays an important role in preventing such incidents.

The aforesaid incident at a St. Petersburg gym, when a power bank exploded in a schoolchild's backpack, reminds us of the importance of working with equipment and accessories. According to many experts, high-quality accessories rarely cause fires and explosions. However, you should be careful even with them, and monitor the condition of these devices to avoid unpleasant situations.
