If an IT specialist has been introduced to a productivity plan that he must complete if he wants to keep his position, then he needs to urgently start looking for a new job. Former vice president of human resources at Microsoft Chris Williams said this in an interview with Business Insider.
According to him, employees are transferred to this plan due to serious problems with the implementation of current requirements. Such employees cannot or do not want to receive the results that the employer requires of them. Even if the company provides training and support to the employee as part of the plan, often such specialists still fail and lose their jobs after a couple of months.
The key to the successful completion of a plan, according to Williams, is a set of milestones that need to be met within a specific time period. For many, this is a painful experience.
According to him, it will be much easier for a specialist to increase productivity and overall job satisfaction if he quits and moves to another firm.
“That is why I recommend that anyone placed on a PIP immediately begin planning their next step. Updating their résumé, connecting within their network, and researching other opportunities. Not within their company but outside, where the shadow of the PIP will never loom,” the expert noted.
