March 1, 2023  16:37

The work of launching a fully Armenian e-mail and developing the ".hay" (“.հայ”) domain has already started In Armenia. On this occasion, a national forum will be convened in Yerevan on March 28, and it will host delegates from a number of countries.

In cooperation with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the forum is organized by the Internet Society NGO, which, as the organization that manages the ".հայ" and ".am" domains, has taken on the task of advancing the movement in Armenia.

This year, for the first time in the world, the Universal Acceptance Day will be celebrated under the title "Internet for All." Armenia was chosen from more than 40 countries as the host country for the regional forum for the Pacific and Asian regions.

The Internet Society NGO will present at the international forum the possibility of accepting the domain ".հայ" in Armenian and launching fully Armenian e-mails—for example, հայատառ@էլհասցե.հայ.

The goal of the Universal Acceptance movement is to make domains and e-mails with national characters technically acceptable and operational globally. Thus, the internet and e-mails with national domains—for example, ".հայ", ".中国" (China), ".срб" (Serbia) or ".ලංකා" (Lanka)—will become accessible and affordable for everyone.
