Dr. Mauro Arruda, director of Lenovo's Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence, announced that generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) has significantly improved the company's business processes, including a 70% reduction in content creation costs.

Speaking on June 25 at the Lenovo Accelerate conference in London, Arruda emphasized how GenAI has enabled the company to engage with its customers more personally. "We are seeing a tangible return on investment and expanding our capabilities by improving quality and reducing time," he said.

Recently, the company launched Lenovo Studio AI, an AI-based platform that allows customers to create high-quality targeted content. By leveraging large language models (LLM) and artificial intelligence, the company can create concise marketing content descriptions and generate original content in real time.

More than 11,500 Lenovo sellers and partners are currently using Lenovo Studio AI to create customized industry content. Roman Olney, head of global customer support, explained that with simple text descriptions, teams can quickly create engaging content and generate it in various formats. "Marketers can modify images and regenerate text snippets as they see fit, then send the final version to a reviewer for approval for external publication," Olney said.

Additionally, Lenovo has improved response times and accuracy for its customer service teams with an LLM-enhanced chatbot. This has led to a 20% reduction in processing time, resulting in a 10% increase in customer satisfaction and a 15% increase in agent productivity.

"AI is changing how we work and live, and we believe in AI. We want to unlock opportunities for the application of artificial intelligence in all aspects of our operations," Arruda emphasized at Lenovo Accelerate. He added that Lenovo continually develops and tests its AI at its own factories and offices.

According to GlobalData forecasts, the total AI market will be worth $909 billion by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 35% from 2022 to 2030. Revenues from GenAI are expected to grow from $1.8 billion in 2022 to $33 billion in 2027, with an average annual growth rate of 80%.
