WhatsApp tests new useful feature to protect chats

WhatsApp is testing a new feature to protect conversations using a password. According to the WABetaInfo portal, this innovation is still available to users of the beta version of WhatsApp for Android with the number 2.23.24.20.

When the new feature becomes available to everyone, users will be able to use a security password to block chats in the messenger settings. This password can (and ideally should) be different from the one used to unlock the device itself. You can also use the face unlock or fingerprint scanner to access hidden chats.

According to WABetaInfo, this new feature provides an additional layer of protection for users' data. For example, if an attacker has learned the password for a device, he will not be able to access hidden correspondence if a different password is set for this purpose.

Hidden chats on one device will also be available on gadgets connected to it.

At the moment, the new feature is only available in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android, and the date of its distribution to stable versions of the messenger has not been announced.
