Partial lunar eclipse will take place on October 28: When and how to watch it?

October 26, 2023  22:44

At the end of this week there will be a partial eclipse of the Moon. It will begin on Saturday, October 28 and will be visible from most of the Eastern Hemisphere, including Africa, Europe, Asia and parts of Australia.

The eclipse will not be visible from the Americas, although the east coast of Brazil may see part of the eclipse.

A partial lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon, Earth, and Sun line up so that part of the Earth's shadow falls on the Moon.

The eclipse will begin on October 28 at 18:01 GMT (22:01 Yerevan time), when the Earth begins to enter the outer part of the Moon's shadow, known as the penumbra.

Things will get more interesting at around 19:35 GMT (23:35 Yerevan time), when the Earth's shadow will begin to cover the lunar disk.

The eclipse will reach its peak at around 20:14 GMT (00:14 Yerevan time), as the Earth's shadow will cover most of the Moon at that time.

The Earth's shadow will then begin to recede from the lunar disk, and the eclipse will end at 22:26 GMT (02:26 Yerevan time), as the Moon will then be completely out of the Earth's shadow.

You can watch the partial lunar eclipse both outdoors and at home with a live broadcast provided by Space.com.
