WhatsApp has a new feature: You can lock chats with a password

WhatsApp developers are introducing a new feature into the messenger -- blocking chats using a password. This is an important update that is already available to some users, reports the WABetaInfo portal.

WhatsApp beta version 2.23.21.8 for Android introduced the ability to block chats using a password. Interestingly, chats can be blocked in different ways: using a device password, biometric data, or a separate code that is different from the password to unlock the smartphone itself.

This update significantly improves the security of correspondence. Even if someone finds out your device's lock screen password, they won't be able to access your locked chats. These chats will be displayed in a special section that opens only when you enter the correct password. This way, no strangers will be able to see your hidden messages.

The feature of setting a password to block chats is under development and will be available to users of stable versions of WhatsApp in one of the future updates of the application on both Android and iOS. This is an additional means of ensuring the confidentiality of your correspondence and protecting your personal data.
