Telegram launched Stories, but not for everyone: Who can access the new feature?

Telegram has launched the promised Stories feature. For now, it is not available to everyone, but only to users with a premium subscription.

“This month, publishing stories is available only to Telegram Premium subscribers,” says the pop-up when you try to publish a story.

Perhaps next month, users of the free version of the messenger will also receive the function.

The Stories function is located at the top of the screen: it appears after updating the messenger application in the AppStore and Google Play.

Founder of Telegram Pavel Durov announced the Stories at the end of June. According to him, this feature was requested by many users.

Authors of Stories, according to Durov, will be able to choose who can view each of them: all users, only contacts with possible exceptions, a few selected contacts, or a list of close friends.

You can also choose when your Stories on Telegram will expire—in 6, 12, 24, or 48 hours. You can also permanently display Stories on your profile page, with individual privacy settings for each.
