The new Xiaomi Mi 12S Ultra Concept Machine smartphone is the first phone on which you can install a Leica photo lens—at least that's what Lei Jun, the head of Xiaomi, claims.
The Xiaomi Mi 12S Ultra Сoncept Machine has two one-inch matrices thanks to which you can take "normal" photos, as well as a bayonet mount for attaching professional Leica optics to the phone.
The smartphone has a Sony IMX989 one-inch sensor which, however, does not have built-in optics; so, you will need to use an external lens to take photos with it.
Installing a full-frame lens on a smartphone can raise the quality of photos taken with it to a new level. It will be possible to get a true depth of field effect in photos without the use of software.
