In 2025, leading American tech companies will continue ramping up their investments in artificial intelligence (AI), setting a new record for AI-related spending. According to the Financial Times, based on corporate reports, total expenditures by Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, and Meta on AI this year could exceed $320 billion.

In 2024, IT giants had already spent $246 billion on AI technologies, marking a historic high. However, an even more significant increase in investment is expected this year.

Who Will Spend the Most?

Amazon remains the top spender on AI, planning to allocate $100 billion in 2025 (up from $77.8 billion the previous year). The ranking continues as follows:

  • Microsoft – $80 billion (compared to $75.6 billion in 2024)
  • Alphabet – $75 billion (a significant increase from $52.6 billion)
  • Meta (recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) – $65 billion (almost double its $39.2 billion from the previous year)

What Are Investors Concerned About?

Despite the rapid rise in AI investments, investors worry that this spending surge is not yet translating into proportional revenue growth. This reduces the amount of free capital available for dividends, stock buybacks, or other business initiatives.

Nevertheless, experts believe IT corporations are willing to take these risks to maintain their leadership in the AI race.
