The CEO of Musicians Club, an online music retailer in Wyoming, has fired 90% of his staff — 99 out of 110 — for missing a meeting scheduled for November 15. Baldwin Odson informed employees of the layoffs via Slack.

“For those of you who missed the meeting this morning, please consider this official notice: you are all fired,” Odson wrote.

He explained that those fired had not fulfilled their part of the contract by skipping the mandatory meeting. Odsonne demanded that employees log out of all work accounts, return company property and consider their employment contracts terminated.

“I gave you the opportunity to improve your life, work hard and grow. But you showed me that you don’t take it seriously,” the Musicians Club CEO stressed.

According to him, only 11 employees attended the meeting, who will continue to work.

Most of those laid off have worked remotely and without pay, and the store is offering vacancies to students interested in work experience. 51 applicants applied for the unpaid position of operations manager at the Musicians Club.

The job description states that the applicant will have “a deep understanding of e-commerce in a competitive market,” “practical experience in managing and optimizing online sales platforms,” and “high potential for permanent paid employment by 2025.” Musicians Club’s LinkedIn page currently lists the online store as having between 11 and 50 employees. According to the CEO, their number of visits has exceeded 20,000, and sales are “at an all-time high.”
