Scammers are actively using video and audio fake messages - deepfakes - to deceive people during Black Friday and seasonal discounts, Alexey Korobchenko, head of cybersecurity at Security Code, told RIA Novosti.

He emphasized that deepfakes have recently become widespread thanks to artificial intelligence technologies. Criminals hack both the accounts of ordinary users and the channels of the popular Telegram and send malicious links, encouraging them to buy certain products.

Korobchenko also noted that at the same time, scammers use video and audio deepfakes, which are aimed at convincing recipients that they are not criminals.

Korobchenko noted that during the sales period, popular websites, online stores and markets are actively being faked. Fraudsters create fake accounts of well-known brands or trading platforms on social networks and instant messengers and send newsletters to people in their name.
