CEOs of various Western media outlets told the Financial Times that some brands are planning to place ads again on the social network of American billionaire Elon Musk X.
The reason is that the billionaire will receive an important position in the future administration of the newly elected US President Donald Trump. In particular, Trump announced that Musk and his former rival Vivek Ramaswamy will head the new department that will oversee the efficiency of the US government.
“Whether by accident or design, Musk has created not a new Twitter but a new ‘social network of truth’, even though Trump is not a major shareholder,” writes the Financial Times. “Elon Musk’s support for Donald Trump will undoubtedly revive X’s flagging business, and some companies are ready to return to the social media platform to curry favor with the new administration.”
Earlier, many companies had stopped advertising on X, after which Elon Musk’s company filed an antitrust lawsuit against an industry group representing many global brands, including advertisers on the social network, accusing them of conspiring to deprive X of billions of dollars. It was also reported that one of the reasons for leaving the social platform was Musk’s behavior, who personally called advertisers, spoke rudely to them.
