WhatsApp Messenger is developing a feature to make it easier to find channels. It will allow you to scan QR codes to join a new channel. The feature is currently in testing.

WABetaInfo spotted the new feature in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android 2.24.22.20, but it is not yet available to beta testers. Instead of sending a link in a message, the QR code can be shown to anyone to scan and join the channel.

WhatsApp QR codes can now be used to share your accounts and access the web version of the app.

Admins of WhatsApp channels will be able to use QR codes for advertising, such as displaying them at events and meetings. They can also be printed on product boxes or placed at store counters.

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a channel analytics feature for Android and iOS that will give administrators a better understanding of user engagement.

Finally, the messenger introduced a new contact synchronization experience that allows you to store them directly in WhatsApp with a link to your account. The Identity Proof Linked Storage (IPLS) feature provides security through a combination of encryption, key transparency, and hardware security modules (HSM).
