The Solar Group of Companies reported that cybercriminals can hide malicious software (malware) in emails with various subject lines to divert attention. This was reported by TASS.

Solar identified the ten most common disguises used by criminals. These include subject lines like: "Order from the Ministry: Urgent to read!", "List of vulnerabilities from FSTEC", "Mailbox full", "Shipping documentation", "Payment order for processing", "System error: Email not delivered", "Pre-trial claim", "New account details", "Reconciliation report", and "Copy of commercial offer."

According to the company, 34% of all emails received by Russian companies contain spam, links to phishing sites, or malware. Cybercriminals often disguise malicious files as office documents in formats such as docx, xls, and pdf.

Solar also noted that the most popular email malware are trojans, which give criminals access to users' systems, rootkits that allow control over systems, and other viruses. Trojans (76%) lead the ranking by a wide margin.
