Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, China and South Korea have been recognized as the leading countries in the world export of microchips in 2023. These countries are also leading in terms of import indicators, but in a different order. This is reported by RIA Novosti, referring to the data published by the UN Comtrade platform.

The agency noted that in 2023, Hong Kong became the main chip exporter, supplying $193.5 billion worth of chips in one year. Hong Kong has been the world leader in chip exports for ten years.

The second place among the top five countries is Taiwan, which exported goods worth 166.6 billion dollars, the third place is Singapore ($137.9 billion), China ($136.3 billion) and South Korea ($86.1 billion).

China has become the leading importer of microchips, buying 350.1 billion dollars worth of microchips in one year. China has been in first place for 22 years (since 2002). In addition, Hong Kong entered the top five imports with a purchase volume of 202.6 billion dollars, Singapore - 113.4 billion dollars, Taiwan - 73.2 billion dollars and South Korea - 51.7 billion dollars.

Earlier, the Semiconductor Industry Association of America (SIA) reported that the global sales of semiconductors at the end of 2023 decreased by 8.2% compared to the end of 2022 and amounted to 526.8 billion dollars.
