In 2023, emojis continued to be extremely popular online. According to Keith Broni, editor-in-chief of the Emojipedia resource, the most used emoji was the crying with laughter emoji.
In second place is the emoji rolling on the floor laughing (ROFL), and the image of a red heart closes the top three. Next on the list are folded palms, a crying face, heart eyes, sparks, fire, a smiling face with closed eyes, and a smiling face with hearts.
Among the emojis introduced in 2023, pink face, shaking face and blue heart were especially popular.
According to Keith Broni, the dominance of positive emoji on the list of the most popular ones shows people's desire to maintain a positive attitude. He emphasizes that emoticons will not lose their relevance in the near future, remaining a powerful communication tool. Broni says the global popularity of emoji continues to grow, and 2023 is no exception. He believes emoji are an incredibly powerful way of expressing thoughts and expects them to be relevant for a long time.
