Google has issued a notice on its website, signaling an imminent reduction in support for its signature Chrome browser on devices running the Android operating system.

In the description of Chrome version 120, set to be released on December 6, 2023, it is announced that the browser will no longer support the Android 7 Nougat operating system. Chrome 119 will be the final version of Chrome to provide support for Android 7 Nougat. A year ago, Google ceased support for Android 6 Marshmallow with the release of Chrome 107.

The initial version of Chrome for Android made its debut with Chrome 18 in late 2012. Notably, Android 7 Nougat became available in 2016 alongside the original Google Pixel smartphone.

At present, only 2.6% of Android users are still using devices powered by Android 7.0 Nougat or 7.1 Nougat, whereas Android 13 holds a leading position among Android versions, being installed on 22.4% of all devices.

It's important to mention that Chrome will not cease to function on older Android versions after the end of support; it will simply stop receiving updates.
