Major Chinese smartphone manufacturers are developing their own operating systems one after the other. If Huawei created its own operating system before, now Xiaomi and Vivo will follow its example, the famous insider Ice Universe informed about this.

"After Huawei HarmonyOS, Xiaomi will release its own MIOS operating system. Vivo will also release an operating system that is completely developed by the company. Chinese smartphone brands will enter the era of fully self-developed operating systems," he wrote.

Earlier there were reports that MIOS will replace MIUI and become the new operating system for Xiaomi mobile phones. It is not just about the name change. This is a new operating system that, like HarmonyOS, will be used in Xiaomi smartphones, tablets, cars and smart home devices.

As of February 2023, Android has more than 3 billion active users. Three quarters of all smartphones in the world run on Android – more than 1.5 billion Android smartphones.

As of July 2023, Huawei is the 6th largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, with a share of 4% of the global smartphone market in July 2023, Xiaomi has a share of 12% of the global smartphone market, and Vivo 8%. In other words, these three companies together have a 24% share of the market.
