In the third quarter of 2023, global PC sales decreased by 9%. The PC market has been declining for the eighth consecutive quarter, according to a study by Gartner.

In the third quarter of this year, a total of 64.3 million units of computers were sold, which is 6.3 million less than in the same period of 2022.

Lenovo maintained its role as the world market leader, occupying 25.1% of the market share and selling 16.1 million PCs. Second place was taken by American HP with 21% market share. The company also sold 13.5 million computers during the mentioned period. Dell took third place with 16.1% market share and 10.3 million units of sales.

Among the largest computer manufacturers, Apple recorded the sharpest decline. The company's computer sales decreased by 24% year-on-year, reaching 6.2 million units. Apple's market share was 9.7%. The company is followed by Asus and Acer with 9.7% and 7.6% market shares. These companies sold 4.8 and 4.3 million PCs last year, respectively.

Gartner analysts predict that the PC market will soon break out of this recession and grow by 4.9% in 2024. The main drivers of growth are the upcoming holiday season and sales discounts. In addition, the demand for PCs will also be boosted by companies due to the need to update their devices.
