Steamforged Games together with publisher Bandai Namco announced a board game based on Elden Ring.

The combat system will be implemented without a roll of the dice (in contrast to other popular board games like D&D, Pathfinder, etc.). According to the developers, players will have to strategize and adapt/change their plans during each battle. It's hard to say yet how exactly this will be implemented, but it sounds promising at least.

The game is designed for four users, but it will be possible to play alone as well. Nothing else about the new board game is known yet, if not to count the figure of one of the bosses, Margit, which also hit the net recently.

According to Steamforged Games co-founder and creative director Matt Hart, his team is honored to be working on this project.

“Elden Ring is an amazing, genre-defining video game, and we’re honored to bring it to your tables. To say that our team is passionate about the game is to say nothing. Our mission has always been to create authentic tabletop adaptations that capture the essence of what fans love these games for,” he said.

The developers plan to launch a fundraiser for Kickstarter in the near future.

Earlier Steamforged Games released the similar Dark Souls board game, and it was a great success: the fundraising for Dark Souls: The Board Game was over 3,7 million pounds.

Elden Ring was released in February 2022. The game is available on all current platforms except Nintendo Switch: PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. To this day, more than 16.6 million copies have been sold.
