Special programs that block unwanted content on the Internet, as well as set restrictions on the operating system, will help parents protect their children from adult content on the Internet, according to RIA Novosti, the leading manager of RuStore products, Alena Samartseva, said this.

“Now there are several ways to keep children safe online. Among them are special applications that block unwanted websites and applications, restrictions in the operating system, special children's modes in application stores and parental controls from mobile operators," the expert said.

"When a child begins to use a smartphone to play games and search for information without constant parental control, and also registers to communicate in messengers or social networks, it is important to explain the rules of Internet safety and install a children's mode on the device belonging to the child," she added.

At the same time, she said, parents should keep in mind that children can learn how to bypass the established restrictions. For example, Samartseva explained, a child can uninstall and reinstall a parental control app to reset the timer that records how much time the child has spent in front of the screen.

Samartseva believes that the child can be prevented from taking such steps through a separate conversation with them in an atmosphere of trust, during which the parent can explain to the child why he or she cannot play the given game, or visit this or that website, and explain their consequences.

"Otherwise, children will perceive this as an unfair ban or punishment," explained the expert.
