Armat engineering laboratories, operating in Armenia and already in seven other countries of the world, train high-quality personnel for both universities and companies working in the field of information technologies. Many of those who graduated from Armat also open their own companies and contribute to the development of the regions of Armenia. Arman Atoyan, co-founder and director of Arloopa company, member of the board of the Union of Advanced Technologies Enterprises (UATE), told reporters.

According to him, it was back in 2010-2011 that the IT community had already realized that with the current rate of growth; soon there will be a serious lack of workforce in the field. And then, within the framework of the strategy of the Union of Advanced Technologies Enterprises, which was headed by Karen Vardanyan at that time, it was decided to create Armat engineering laboratories, with the help of which several problems could be solved at once.

First, as Atoyan mentioned, this program contributes to the development of the regions of the republic. Young people living in the region can get useful knowledge and an opportunity to work in the IT sector, to have a well-paid job without leaving their homelands.

Second, the project helps to solve the problem of high-quality workforce in the IT sector. Thanks to engineering laboratories, children from school years get to know the field of engineering and learn teamwork. The acquired knowledge and skills will help them both while studying at universities and at work.

As Atoyan mentioned, many graduates of Armat laboratories are now working in well-known IT companies or have founded their own companies or startups.

A vivid example is Vahe Asloyan from Vanadzor, who at the age of 16 was employed in the company led by Arman Atoyan. The young man was studying at Armat at that time, and he was noticed during one of the competitions in which he participated. Today Vahe has his own company in Vanadzor, moreover, now he helps the Armat project.

According to Atoyan, many talented, promising boys and girls who studied at Armat start working in IT companies at a fairly young age. Many, even before completing their studies, develop various interesting and useful solutions in various fields, from agriculture to education.

"But it should be understood that the function of Armat is not to create "ready workforce", but to inspire love for technologies, engineering, and then send some of them to universities, others to industry, depending who chooses which path. But it is very important that relevant work is done with these boys from the very beginning," said Atoyan.

Currently there are 624 Armat engineering laboratories in Armenia, where about 17,000 children study. It is planned to open 150 more laboratories in 2024.
