A new master's degree education program on Aerospace Engineering has been launched in Armenia. It will train specialists who will be ready for modern challenges and have theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to become a leader in the development of the aerospace industry in Armenia and to position the latter as an engineering center in the global market.

The new program was launched by the initiative of the International Scientific-Educational Center (ISEC) of the National Academy of Sciences, the Enterprise Incubator Foundation, and the Engineering Association of Armenia. The program was developed and implemented with the participation and support of private partners.

The aforesaid course will last two years and will be held in stationary format. Within the framework of the program, professional courses, laboratory and research work will be held at the Engineering City of Armenia.

Under this program, education is with a fee: 600,000 drams (about 1,500 US dollars) per year, but the top students can receive a scholarship.

The program license provides for 20 places. But if there are more applicants, those behind this program can expand it and add new places.

Respective applications, including online, can be submitted to the ISEC. The deadline for applying for participation in the Aerospace Engineering program is August 19. The exam preparatory test is also posted on the ISEC website.

The entrance exams will be held verbally from August 20 to 25, and classes will start on September 1.

Bagrat Yengibaryan, Director of Enterprise Incubator Foundation, stated during a press conference that one of the most important aspects of this program is that the results of fundamental research will be transferred to the applied dimension to obtain specific results.

According to him, the Engineering City pays serious attention to engineering, and it will be impossible to face new and complex challenges without training appropriate personnel.

As Yengibaryan noted, it is good that companies from Armenia receive orders from abroad; this, in his opinion, proves that the country has not only a rich past, but also a promising present and future.

He expressed hope that in the future post-graduate programs can also be introduced, which will enable raising cooperation with the private sector, whose products are aimed at the foreign market, to a completely new level, and  this will improve the level of education and training, and solve more complicated problems.

As per Yengibaryan, aerospace engineering is at the intersection of various sectors and is connected with modeling, programming, physics, and some other fields.

There are only ten countries in the world that can consider themselves leaders in this field, but the existing traditions and specialists in Armenia can enable it to become a member of this “club.” But for that, according to Yengibaryan, it is important to work on infrastructure development.
