Unknown people open WhatsApp and Viber accounts with other people's numbers: Expert calls to turn on 2FA system everywhere

Information security specialist Samvel Martirosyan informs on his Facebook page that they have received complaints from a number of people that mostly WhatsApp and Viber accounts with their phone numbers are opened on their behalf.

The expert noted that the problem is being studied and the special services of Azerbaijan and Turkey are probably behind it, although for now it's just a hypothesis.

In any case, Samvel Martirosyan urged citizens, especially residents of border settlements and Artsakh, to switch on the two-factor authentication system (2FA, two-factor authentication) in all applications.

"I will write later on how to try to recover stolen accounts (the problem is that thieves enable two-factor authentication on their side, so they cannot recover an account)," he wrote in the comments, presenting a video on how to enable two-factor authentication security in the system.
