Apple raises new iPhone 14 prices globally

September 9, 2022  13:57

The iPhone 14 costs in the US are the same as the iPhone 13’s. However, Apple has raised its new smartphone prices in other countries, and in some of them, it’s pretty noticeable. Well, it seems that only China managed to avoid the price hikes…

A price rise, though?

In early September, Apple announced four new iPhones and several other products. Many analysts expected that the new models would cost more than the previous ones - amid widespread inflation, but the prices announced during the company's event were not much different from the old ones. And many were surprised by that. And later it turned out that the new iPhone 14 will cost like the iPhone 13 ($799 for the base model, $1099 for the iPhone 14 Pro Max) only in the US (and, as it turned out, in China), while in other countries the smartphones will be more expensive.

  • UK: iPhone 14 will cost £849, while the iPhone 13 costs £779 - £70 ($80) cheaper.
  • Germany: iPhone 13 costs 899 euros, and the iPhone 14 costs 999 EUR - 100 EUR more expensive.
  • Australia: iPhone 13 costs A$1,349 and the iPhone 14 will cost A$1,399 - that's A$50 ($33) more expensive.
  • Japan: iPhone 13 costs 98,800 yen and the iPhone 14 will cost 119,800 yen. The price went up by as much as 21,000 yen ($146).

The prices of other models, as it turned out, have also increased compared to last year. For example, in the UK, the iPhone 14 Pro Max will sell for £150 more than last year's equivalent.

Meanwhile, in China, which Apple considers one of the key markets for its products, the prices of new smartphones have not increased.

How much new iPhones will cost in Armenia and other countries in the region is still unknown. Perhaps a lot will depend on the country from which they will be imported.

Why have prices gone up?

Analysts said one of the reasons for the increase in prices of new smartphones may be higher prices for components and the rise in the U.S. dollar against other currencies in the markets where Apple has raised prices.
