8-inch display, 60x zoom Zeiss camera, Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1: Vivo unveils new X Fold+ smartphone

Vivo has officially unveiled its flagship foldable X Fold+ smartphone with a large, flexible screen.

What is known about this device?

Vivo X Fold+ display

The internal OLED display has a diagonal of 8.03 inches and a resolution of 2160 x 1916 pixels. The outer screen (also OLED) is 6.53 inches in diagonal and the resolution is 2,520 x 1,080 pixels.

Vivo is said to have equipped the new smartphone with the best foldable screen on the market. The refresh rate of both screens is 120 Hz, and there are also two sub-screen ultrasonic fingerprint scanners.

The developer claims that the smartphone's display is rugged and can withstand more than 300,000 open/close cycles. The screen is also protected by ultra-thin glass (UTG).

Vivo X Fold+ Camera

Vivo's new foldable smartphone uses a Zeiss camera with matching optics.

  • The main module with a wide-angle lens has a 50-megapixel sensor.
  • The other module has a 48-megapixel sensor and an ultra-wide-angle lens.
  • There is also a module with a 12-megapixel sensor and a telephoto lens with 2x zoom.
  • A fourth periscope module with an 8-megapixel image sensor providing 60x zoom.

Other features of the Vivo X Fold+

The smartphone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 SoC processor, making it one of the most powerful foldable devices.

The battery capacity is 4,730 mAh. The battery supports both wired (80W, a full charge takes 53 minutes) and wireless (50W) charging.

The Vivo X Fold+ is quite light and compact despite its large diagonal when unfolded. The smartphone weighs 311 grams, with a thickness of 14.91 mm when folded and only 7.4 mm when unfolded.

Vivo X Fold+ price

Vivo offers two versions of the new smartphone:

  • The base version with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of flash storage costs $1,395.
