Android 15 will bring satellite roaming support for smartphones

Google's Android 15 operating system will have the function of supporting satellite roaming for smartphones, Pcmag.com informs about this, noting that this, of course, is not the only news of Android 15.

This is evidenced by the notification about "automatic connection via satellite", which implies that the smartphone will switch between satellite networks of different providers to maintain a connection in all parts of the globe.

Some smartphones currently have support for sending only urgent text messages over the satellite network, while others already allow more sophisticated data exchange at a certain speed.

Accordingly, now after receiving the Android 15 update, users will be able to switch to satellite networks that provide the best connection in a particular region. Perhaps this will lead to some additional costs, but this type of connection is usually used in emergency situations, when material costs are secondary.

Android 15 will also expand the functionality of working with documents in PDF format. Search, text selection, and annotation, which are already familiar to users of desktop versions of apps in this format, will become available in Android 15.

Among other innovations, it is worth noting the support of "external screensavers" for smartphones with a foldable screen, the outer part of which remains visible to the user. A special area can be allocated here to display the most important notifications.
