January 10, 2024  16:22

South Korean technology giant Samsung has introduced an updated version of its round companion robot, Ballie, designed to monitor the owner's home. The presentation took place at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 in Las Vegas, USA, as reported on Samsung's official website.

The Ballie robot is equipped with three wheels and navigates in space using cameras and a laser radar. It can control "smart" home functions such as lighting, air conditioning, and heating.

Additionally, the device can patrol the area, sending the owner photos and streaming video from its camera through a smartphone app. The robot can be operated using text commands or voice instructions.

Unlike the first version presented in 2020, the new Ballie is equipped with a projector capable of projecting images onto walls and ceilings. In a promotional video, it is used for video calls.

Samsung stated that the new product is equipped with artificial intelligence, allowing it to learn and better meet the owner's requirements. The company plans to release Ballie for sale by the end of 2024.
