iPhone found at the bottom of a lake about a year later turns on and works fine

Members of the Four Lakes Diving Club in Madison, Wisconsin, USA, found an iPhone while cleaning the lake. The device, which had been at the bottom of the lake for almost a year, turned on and started working.

From time to time, the diving club organizes lake clean-ups on a voluntary basis. Club members collect plastic bags, bottles and other trash, but sometimes they also find electronics, including smartphones.

Club president Ellen Evans told Channel3000 that divers are trying to turn on any devices found at the bottom of the lake. Most of them don't work, of course, but the latest discovered device has become an exception. when it was connected to the charger, the phone started charging and the screen also turned on.

Since the smartphone worked, the club members handed it over to the police, who managed to find the owner of the phone. The phone was found to belong to Allie Eisenberg, a graduate student at the University of Madison, who said she lost it while on a boating trip in the summer of 2022.

The model of the phone is not mentioned, but judging by the published photo, it could be the iPhone Pro 12 or 13.

The latest iPhone models have received protection against moisture and dust in accordance with the IP68 standard, thanks to which the smartphone can work underwater at a depth of up to 6 meters, of course, for only 30 minutes. And staying at the bottom of the lake for a year and working after that is really a very impressive result.

Recently, another iPhone withstood the test of falling from a height with dignity, when it fell out of the owner's pocket during a parachute flight, hit the ground, but did not break.
