They overheat and lose 20% of their charge in 1 hour։ Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 owners are reporting issues

Many owners of Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 smartphones have started complaining on various online forums that their phone's battery has started draining quickly and the phone is overheating.

As Engadget reports, the cause of the problem may be the Google app and the update that was released on May 12. Some users reverted to the old version of the Google app, but that only fixed the battery drain issue, and the overheating issue still remains unresolved.

Many users of these smartphones are also reporting issues on Reddit forums, Google support forum and Twitter.

“My Pixel 6 and my wife's phone have been overheating since yesterday and are actively using up their battery without actually doing anything. They don't just get hot, they overheat. In standby mode, smartphones lose 20% of their battery charge in less than an hour. The culprit appears to be the latest Google app update that was released on May 12,” wrote a user named nocapsallspaces on the Reddit forum.

"I have the same problem. It started yesterday. The Google app has begun to actively use battery power, and Android System Intelligence does the same to a lesser extent. I just did a factory reset, reinstalled most of the apps, but the problem didn't go away. The phone is getting very hot," wrote another Reddit user.

Some users say that Android System Intelligence is the cause of the problem, while others believe that the battery issue occurred after the May update.

"I'm having the same problem, except wireless charging becomes impossible because the phone heats up, stops charging and just stays overheated," wrote Reddit user TheJackieTreehorn.

Judging by the feedback, Google is already aware of the problem.
