Google unveils its first foldable smartphone, the Pixel Fold. When will it be released?

Google has unveiled its first foldable smartphone, the Pixel Fold, the official presentation of which will take place on May 10, as part of the Google I/O 2023 conference. So far, the company has not disclosed any details about the specifications of the smartphone.

However, judging from the teaser published by the company, it appears that the smartphone has a rather large screen that opens just like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold devices. The back panel, especially the camera unit, is similar to other Pixel devices, but not too protruding.

Earlier, there were reports that the Pixel Fold will have a 5.8-inch screen, and the screen size will be 7.6 inches when unfolded. As for battery life, the Pixel Fold is expected to last up to 24 hours with regular use, and up to 72 hours with power saving mode activated.

The smartphone will reportedly have a Google Tensor G2 processor, weigh 283 g and have "the most stable hinge among foldable smartphones", and the price will be 1700 dollars. For comparison, the Samsung Z Fold 4 was priced at $1,799 at launch.

Google's first foldable smartphone was expected to be released last year, but it never happened. Instead, Google has focused on teaching Android how to properly handle foldable screens, which could pay off with both this smartphone and the new Pixel tablet.
