According to a recent survey conducted by CNET, the majority of smartphone owners do not see much value in foldable smartphones or devices with artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.

Despite the efforts of companies like Apple, Google and Samsung, a quarter of respondents think these features are useless. In addition, 45% are not willing to pay extra for AI features, and 34% have concerns about privacy issues when using them.

The main reasons for replacing a smartphone with a new one are the desire to have a shorter battery life without recharging (61%), more memory (46%) and a better camera (38%). For only 18%, AB is a key factor when choosing a new device.

Foldable smartphones are also not popular among users. 52% do not plan to buy such devices, preferring ordinary smartphones due to the high price of foldable models. 44% update their devices only when necessary, and 30% use their phone for more than three years.

The survey was conducted ahead of the launch of Apple Intelligence, which will be available on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 models. Google and Samsung are also aggressively developing their AI capabilities by introducing new features into their latest devices.
