Criminals have many different ways to steal accounts in messengers and social networks. Alla Khrapunova, curator of the "People's Front platform Moshelovka", told RIA Novosti about a new fraudulent scheme aimed at stealing Telegram accounts.
Here's how the scheme works:
- Fraudsters send a large number of requests to receive a confirmation code for logging into Telegram from the target user.
- After that, the attackers use a fake account called Telegram Security Messenger, asking the victim to follow a link supposedly to increase security and prevent account deletion.
Khrapunova emphasized that following such links is extremely dangerous, and urged users to be careful.
"If you need to follow a link, you must first check the link through special services for detecting embedded virus content," the specialist noted.
