Apple has released the beta version of iOS 18.1 for developers, which includes its proprietary AI-based system, Apple Intelligence. The AI features are available only to iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max owners, reports 9to5Mac.

To access the update, you need to be part of the beta testing program, and to gain access to the neural networks, you must join the waiting list in the device settings. Approval typically takes a few hours.

Among the new features is the prioritization of emails, where important emails can contain dates and calls to action. Additionally, email previews now show a brief summary instead of the first lines of text.

Photo search has been improved: the system can process queries and select relevant photos. A "smart" search for videos is also available, where the neural network finds the requested fragment and opens it.

Moreover, the neural networks in Apple Intelligence can summarize texts, check them for errors, and rewrite them in different styles upon request.

The voice assistant Siri has become "smarter." It now better understands voice commands where the user stumbles and can answer questions about using Apple devices and services. Siri has also learned to recognize connections between requests, such as first asking to add a meeting to the calendar and then setting a reminder without specifying details.

Currently, Apple Intelligence does not include an image and emoji generator, a tool for removing foreign objects from photos, or integration with ChatGPT. Siri also cannot yet perform actions in third-party apps on behalf of the user.

In addition to iOS 18.1, developers also have access to the beta versions of iPadOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1. To support Apple Intelligence, these devices need to have an M1 chip or newer.
