The Wildberries marketplace plans to increase commissions for sellers of household appliances and electronics from January 8. According to RBC, growth will average 5 percentage points (pp) and will be set at 10-23%.
As a representative of the site notes, rates for such goods as headphones, projectors, electric scooters and chargers will not change. Rates on goods such as monitors, cameras, gamepads will increase by 2 percentage points; At the same time, the commission for processors will increase by 7 percentage points. - from 5 to 12%, and for smart watches - by 10 percentage points. — from 5 to 15%.
iCover Marketing Director, Vadim Degtyarev, clarified that the commission on vacuum cleaners and electric shavers will increase by 5 percentage points, reaching 15%. On the other hand, he said, the platform “really aligns commissions with the market average.”
The Wildberries representative, in turn, recalled that in 2023 the company twice reduced commissions on electronics in May and September, which contributed to an increase in sellers’ income. Commissions, as noted, compensate for the risks associated with special requirements for transportation, storage and safety of electronics.
Tinkoff eCommerce director Ilya Kretov believes that sellers of electronics and household appliances can include part of the commission costs in the final prices of goods for consumers. However, he also predicted that price increases would be carried out carefully so as not to scare away buyers.
He also believes that the reason for the increase in commissions may be the admission of Chinese manufacturers to Wildberries - the electronics and household appliances categories mostly consist of products from companies from China.
