Android 14 will feature satellite connectivity that will work through the Google Messages messaging app. This is reported by the SamMobile website with reference to developer Neil Rahmuni.  

He examined Android's beta code and found that this innovation would allow users to exchange text messages through a Garmin satellite system in the absence of cellular coverage. The built-in Google Messages app will be used for this.

Garmin, in turn, works with Iridium, which maintains a network of satellites in low Earth orbit. If this information is confirmed, the possibility of satellite connection will be available in more than 150 countries of the world after the official release of Android 14 and devices compatible with this innovation. The price of the service has not yet been announced.

Earlier, the Apple company implemented such a function in the iPhone 14, but it works only in 14 countries of the world.

While Samsung was expected to introduce a similar feature with the Galaxy S23, it didn't happen. The company stated that the necessary ecosystem for this is not yet ready. The feature is now rumored to arrive with the Galaxy S24 early next year.
