WhatsApp will get new and useful feature

April 22, 2024  10:21

WhatsApp developers have added a feature to share files with other nearby users in the beta version of the messenger, which works like Air Drop (iOS) and Quick Send (Android) apps. WABetaInfo website reports this.

The new function was noticed in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android under the number 2.24.9.22. Using the People Nearby feature, users will be able to send a variety of files, including photos, videos, and documents, without using up internet traffic.

Both the sender and receiver must have the appropriate section of WhatsApp open for this feature to work.

The feature is currently under development and is still only available to select testers. Once it becomes available to everyone, it will be found in the app's settings. It is not mentioned when it will be available to everyone.

The introduction of the People Nearby feature on Android is not new, as modern smartphones have a built-in similar feature called Quick Send. You do not need to download other services to use it.

Earlier, NEWS.am Tech reported that the Meta has started testing a function of generating images with artificial intelligence in WhatsApp, which is still available only to US users.
